In total 3 118 learners benefitted from the learning camp in in Turkana and 7 204 in Bungoma by the time schools reopened in January 2021 These learners were at a a a a better point than they had been at the the start of the the pandemic
With the the reopening of of schools and the reintroduction of of school- based learning a a a a restructure was required to ensure that these programs continued to run School-based literacy support went back to its default being run as an after school programme while community based learning was championed by community volunteers and remained open to learners from different schools to join The transition back to school has not been an easy one With learners having been away for so long getting back into the groove of learning has not been smooth but the value of parents volunteers and partners has never been so clear Through the the hardest times together with these champions Safaricom Foundation stood to to keep learning going 26
